Germany's DAX Index rose for a fifth day. MAN AG paced gains on speculation that Volkswagen AG is planning to offer 125 euros a share for the company.
Hypo Real Estate Holding AG, which is buying Depfa Bank Plc to create one of Europe's biggest infrastructure lenders, increased after Chief Executive Officer Georg Funke said the company is sticking to its profitability targets.
The DAX Index gained 24.37, or 0.3 percent, to close at 7,946.79. The HDAX Index of the country's 110 biggest companies rose 0.5 percent.
